Missions Development

About This Team

The MDT will consist of a leader/chairperson and at least six members elected from the member churches within the SFBA. The Baptist Men's Ministry leader as well as the Baptist Women's leader will partner with and relate directly to the MDT in order to enhance the Association's total mission effort. The Association Officers along with the AMS will serve as advisers to this team. The leader/chairperson will serve on the Associational Council, report to the Associational Board regularly, work closely with the AMS on Associational mission efforts, submit an annual budget request to the AST for the work of this team throughout the year, and conduct quarterly team meetings.

Principle Functions

• Take the lead in the education of and the promotion of annual mission offerings such as the BSCNC state missions offering, NAMB Annie Armstrong missions offering, and the IMB Lottie Moon missions offering. Additionally, the MDT will consistently evaluate the Association's missions' development work locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally in order to enhance the Association's mission impact.
• Diligently work to assist member churches within the SFBA in the development of an active Acts 1:8 DNA.
• Take the lead in the development of mission partnerships which will include partnering with local missions where possible, statewide mission partnerships, national mission partnerships, and potential international mission partnerships. These partnerships would include, primarily, sister Associations where possible but will not be limited to just Associations.
• Organize, promote, and conduct special Mission programs as well as Association mission trips throughout the calendar year. The MDT will be responsible for the training of SFBA mission teams as well as assisting SFBA member churches with team training when requested.
• Seek to enlist sending churches along with potential church planters who are interested in planting new work within the SFBA. The MDT will assist in the development of planters, organizing the said plants, and assist in finding locations in which to begin their work.
